Create Works of Art With Objects Found at Home
Lost & Found: Circle of Life
Lost and Found: The Circle of Life allows for creative, experimental play with a focus on found objects at home. With monthly themes including Size: Small but mighty and Color: Materials that speak to you, this program will ask you to find discarded materials that are looking to be loved and treasured once again.
Each month will include some guided ideas and projects for upcycling, reusing and creating with specific materials to search for as well as free experimentation with what you’ve found. Example guided upcycling projects include rag coasters, musical instruments, jewelry, memory books and more. Your creative input is welcome and your ideas and interests can inspire others! All abilities are welcome and encouraged to join. Take time to walk in nature, rummage through cupboards or recognize the exciting future of an empty cereal box! However long you choose to commit to this program, we hope that you take away the joy in an object’s potential with curiosity and wonder.

Artists-in-Residence
Marinalynn is a UBC Visual Arts student who has a passion for altering second hand clothes and finding mixed media art materials in her home and community (usually on walks with her dog Ellie). Marina tries to reuse and decorate metal cans, cardboard boxes, plastic containers and more instead of buying new. She loves painting when she allows herself to just create and enjoy rather than worrying about starting and ending a piece perfectly. Marinalynn is often wondering about meaning and purpose and asking questions like, “ Why do people do this?” or “ How come I continue this pattern even though it always makes me feel sad?” Marina doesn’t always find an answer or has exhausted herself and ends up staring out the window listening to music or walking in the rain instead. Marina has a real interest in Art Therapy and sees art as something to fall back on when things get difficult ( or when things are all hunky-dory). Maybe it's better to say that she uses art to express it all. Marina hopes to move to England or New Zealand one day residing in a ivy covered home surrounded by loved ones, dogs, nature and of course--ART!!
